Stommel Haus supports National Custom & Self Build Association research
Stommel Haus supports the research of the British National Custom & Self Build Association (NaCSBA) on how ready-to-go, serviced building plots can be provided in the UK and how communities can collaborate to commission their own homes. The NaCSBA research and development programme is designed to boost overall housing output, and in particular to make it much easier for people in the UK to build their own homes. Stommel Haus has a great deal of experience of self-build projects in Germany and its team helped by organising meetings with a range of German planning offices and banks, and a visit to a large self build exhibition village.

April 2012: Heating with Ice – Stommel Haus using New Technology Sustainable Heating System for their New Show Home
The new show home of Stommel Haus, which is currently being finished in the show home village near Cologne, will be heated with a new high-tech system using solar and ice energy. It will be open for the public from June 2012. Besides the fantastic architecture of the open plan, airy and light contemporary timber house and the typical top quality of Stommel Haus, the novelty of this house is its heating system “Solar Ice”. The heating system linked to the under-floor heating on all floors of the house provides the warmth in the winter and cools the house in a hot summer. The full height windows, the glass front over two storeys on the front elevation and a sun-room provide lots of light for the house with 4 bedrooms and around 200 m² living space.

December 2011: Stommel Haus finished first energy efficient bespoke timber house in Warwickshire
On-Time and In-Budget Finish - Owners move in before Christmas 2011.
Stommel Haus, German Premium Manufacturer of high quality, energy efficient bespoke timber houses finished the first bespoke private dwelling in Warwickshire.
The proud owners of the energy efficient Stommel Haus timber house with five bedrooms on generous 250 m²/2690 ft² will move in on time before Christmas.
The family in Warkwickshire signed their contract with Stommel Haus in October 2010. A bespoke design for a house was jointly developed by the owner and Stommel Haus matching the plot and the individual requirements of the future owners. The erection of the house started on 7th September, the handover to the clients was done on 14th December 2011.

25.02.2010 : Stommel Haus Germany uses the latest Air/Water Source Heat Pump from Waterkotte
With a guaranteed seasonal performance rate of >3.0 and a tested performance rate of 4.2, the latest Air/Water Source Heat Pump by Waterkotte meets requirements of clients today:
- 100 % rated output at -15°C
- Hot Water production to 60°C
- A guaranteed Seasonal Performance Factor (SPF) of >3.0 for an integrated solution with under-floor heating, including hot water generation. Tests by VDI Essen indicated an SPF of 4.2!
