Donations - not gifts - We support SOS Kinderdorf this Christmas

This year we decided to donate to SOS-Kinderdorf e.V. for children in need instead of sending Christmas cards or presents. We hope that you would support us in our endeavour to make this world just a little bit better and wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.

153 million children lost mother, father or both parents. 57 million children are not going to school. With our donation we would like to support the work of SOS-Kinderdorf. In a Kinderdorf (children's village) orphaned and abandoned children find a new home. They live in the safety of an SOS-family where they are looked after by an SOS-Kinderdorf-mom together with other siblings. Five to ten boys and girl live together with an SOS-mon in a family home. Ten to fifteen families together make a village community.

In 1949 Hermann Gmeiner laid the foundation for the first "SOS-children's village" in Imst in Tyrol. He was motivated by the misery of so many children after WWII and his belief that a family environment with mom, sibling, a home and a village community would provide the best basis for these children.

The aim of each "SOS children's village" is to prepare the children for an independent life and to remain by their side until they can stand on their own feet. Based on the individual needs of each child they receive schooling and a vocational education with the aim to enable them to have a self determined, financially independent and socially integrated life.
